Antonios Tzivenis

Born in 2000 in Kavala, Antonios Tzivenis started violin lessons in 2007 at the Municipal Conservatory of Kavala (DOK), initially with Maria Iakovidou and then with Evangelos Papadimitris. From 2016, he was a student of Yiannis Korbetis, with whom he studied violin at the DOK until 2019. In 2018, he was admitted to the Viola Specialization of the Department of Music Science and Art of the University of Macedonia, taking lessons first with Xara Seiras and then with Athanasios Sourgeunis and Dimitris Handrakis. In 2022 he completed his studies with an Excellent grade. He has participated in seminars with Alexey Stadler, Lander Echevarria, Robert Turner, Martin Ruman, Maroš Potokár, Karolina Errera, Georg Hamann, Matthew Michelich, Addison C. Teng, Mark Withers, Giorgos Demertzis, Antonis Manias, Apollon Grammatikopoulos, Areti Zoula, Maria Asteriadou, Dimitri Patra, Christos Kozali and with members of the Molinari Quartet.

He has taken part as an extraordinary member in concerts of the State Orchestra of Athens (conductors: Loukas Karytinos, Vassilis Christopoulos) and in numerous concerts of older and contemporary music, collaborating with musicians such as Alexia Mouza, Fani Karagianni, Ilias Livierato, members of the State Orchestra Thessaloniki etc. He was chosen to represent Greece in the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra in 2019 (conductor: Daniele Rustioni and Quentin Hindley), 2021 and 2022 (conductor: Duncan Ward).

Since 2021 he is a member (A major in Violas) of the Hellenic Youth Symphony Orchestra (ELSON) (conductor: Dionysis Grammenos). He was also a member of the JoveNata Orchestra (conductor: Michalis Trahalios). From the beginning of 2024 he is a permanent member of the State Orchestra of Thessaloniki.

He is particularly interested in contemporary music, has performed works by Iannis Xenakis, György Kurtag, Alfred Schnittke, among others, and has premiered works by contemporary Greek composers.
