Versatile cellist and very active musician, DimosGoudaroulis performs outstandingly different styles of music on both historical and modern instruments. Invited to participate in innumerable projects, recordings and tours, he played with leading musicians and ensembles of both classical and popular music in the world – from Max Roach, Horace Parlan and the Lee Konitz New Nonet, to HermetoPascoal, EgbertoGismonti and Nana Vasconcelos; from Dutch early music ensemble Musica ad Rhenum and Vera Beths, to Nicolau de Figueiredo and ViktoriaMullova. 


Born in 1970 in Greece, he studied cello in Thessalonica, then in Paris with Philippe Muller and ReineFlachot. There, he started playing jazz and improvised music, exploring new possibilities and creating an original language on the cello. In 1996 he moved to Brazil. Since then he dedicates himself to the historical interpretation of early music, researching the baroque and classical cello repertoire and performing with important groups and musicians in major European venues. At the same time, he also works as a soloist with various orchestras, plays contemporary music and free improvisation. 


Dimos Goudaroulis was during ten years professor of cello at the State University of Campinas, UNICAMP. In 2003 he received the prestigious Brazilian Carlos Gomes Prize, as the best soloist of the year; in 2008 his recording of the 3 first Suites for violoncello solo by J.S.Bach won the influential Bravo Cultural Prize (Prêmio Bravo de Cultura), for the best classical music cd of the year; with CamerataAberta, specialized contemporary music ensemble, he received in 2010 the APCA Prize. Still in 2010 recorded with Nicolau de Figueiredo on harpsichord the double album “the lost tenor”, with first world recordings of music for 4-strings violoncello piccolo, and in 2011 released the 6 Suites for Violoncello Solo by J.S.Bach, getting the most enthusiastic revues. In 2012 Dimos directed “Logos – Dialogos/6 Suites for violoncello solo and dance by J.S.Bach”, working with 6 of the most important contemporary Brazilian choreographers – Ismael Ivo, Deborah Colker, Luis Arrieta, Henrique Rodovalho, Jorge Garcia, TindaroSilvano.


DimosGoudaroulis performs regularly all around Europe, Latin America, USA and Canada.
