Giannis Boufidis

Giannis Boufidis was born in Heraklion, Crete in 2007. He started piano lessons at the age of 5 with the distinguished pianist and pedagogue Patricia Arenas. He is a student in the 3rd upper grade at the Contemporary Conservatory of Crete, where he also attends courses in Music Theory, Counterpoint with Yiannis Lygerakis, History of Music, Morphology and Chamber Music. Ηe has taken part in piano seminars - masterclasses with the internationally renowned pianist Alexia Mouza, as well as with the distinguished pianist and piano teacher at the Royal College of Music of London, Yekaterina Lebedeva, while he also took part in the international piano seminar Musical Odyssey 2017, while in 2018 took part in the piano seminar held by Alexia Mouza that was realized in the frame of the International Kalamata Music Days Festival. He takes part in the concerts of the Contemporary Conservatory of Crete. He also participated, following an invitation from the Conservatory of the Municipality of Heraklion, in the concert-presentation titled "Walking in the Paths of J.S. Bach". As a soloist of a chamber orchestra, he has performed the Piano Concerto in D Major by Joseph Haydn. In 2017, in the frame of the Heraklion Piano Festival, he performed Claude Debussy's suite “Children's Corner”. In March 2019, as a member of a piano duo with Rodanthi Daskalaki and in collaboration with the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Crete, he played "The Carnival of the Animals" by Camille Saint-Saens. In December 2019, he participated as a soloist in the concert under the title “Little Stars in Concert”, which took place at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, performing the 3rd movement of the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 2 in in B-flat major by L. V. Beethoven. In April 2020, he won the 1st Prize in the category up to 25 years of age at the Pancretan Piano Competition "Aliki Vatikioti" and in April 2022 he collaborated with the orchestra of the Venizelio Conservatory, under the direction of Giorgos Aravidis, performing the Piano Concerto KV 414 in Α major by W. A. ​​Mozart. In May 2022, in collaboration with the Youth Symphony of Heraklion of Crete and under the direction of conductor Miltos Logiadis, he performed Joseph Haydn's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in D Major. In December 2022, in collaboration with the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Crete, the Children and Youth Choir of SONKDTH, the Youth Choir of the Regional Unit of Heraklion and the "Fonodia" Choir, and under the baton of Miltos Logiadis, he performed Fantasia for choir , piano and orchestra in C major, opus 80 by L. V. Beethoven.
