Jean-Baptiste Leclère

Jean-Baptiste Leclère studied percussion with Daniel Sauvage and then Michel Gastaud before joining the CNSMD in Paris in 2005 in the class of Michel Cerutti, Florent Jodelet and Eric Sammut. After being accepted as 2nd solo percussion in 2007, he has held the position of 1st solo percussion of the Paris Opera Orchestra since 2013. His desire to bring together eclectic French percussion personalities led him to found the Paris Percussion Group, of which he is the artistic director. He is also a member of the 2 pianos, 2 percussion quartet Jatekok. While regularly leading masterclasses and clinics in France and abroad (United States, Colombia, Greece, Bulgaria, Belgium, Switzerland, Holland, Taiwan, Australia), he participates in numerous concerts as a soloist and in chamber music (Percussion and Marimba Festival of Bulgaria, Shanghai Concert Hall, Radio France, Opéra National de Paris, Teatro Major Santo Domingo, Australian Percussion Gathering, etc.). He recorded with cellist Alexis Descharmes Rauche Pinselspitze II by Klaus Huber (disc grand prix of the Académie Charles Cros). Attracted by dance, he participated in 2012 and 2014 in the conception and creation of the “Music and Dance” evenings at the Palais Garnier, where he collaborated with Sébastien Bertaud, Bruno Bouché and Simon Valastro. He continues this adventure with the Incidence choreographic company and its director Bruno Bouché at the Théâtre de Sens, and in Taiwan in 2015, at the Nanaformosa Academy (dance and percussion). Jean-Baptiste Leclère currently teaches at the CRR in Saint Maur-des-Fossés, at the CESMD Poitou-Charentes higher education center and at the Eurocuivres Academy. He is supported by sponsors Zildjian, Black Swamp Percussion and Innovative and Bergerault.
