Spyros Lambouras

Spyros Lambouras has been the Principal Timpanist of the Athens State Orchestra since 2004. Previously, he had collaborated with the Athens State Orchestra on percussion (1992-1997) and on drums since 1999. He was born in 1976 in Corfu, where he had his first contact with music playing percussion in the Corfu Philharmonic Society. From 1991 to 1997 he was a student of Nikolaos Koratzinos at the Athens Conservatory, from where he graduated with Excellent unanimous and Distinction. He is also a member of the brass and percussion ensemble “METALLON” of the K.O.A. and of the “Duo Arsis”. An important milestone in his musical career was his participation in March 2013 as a soloist in the first performance of Theodoros Antoniou's Concerto for Tambour 'Just Drumming' (a work dedicated to S. Lampouras), in the context of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Hellenic Philharmonic Orchestra.
